Ava Cloud Video Security 4.1: Introducing the Nedap AEOS physical access control integration

The new release also brings the ability to create counting rules for vehicle types and to pause rules for certain periods.

Intelligent cloud video surveillance integrated with flexible access control changes the outcome of everyday access events

Nedap is a Dutch provider of powerful physical security solutions, including the AEOS access control solution. It offers a web-based application tailored to customers’ specific needs and lets them easily amend security policies. Organizations deploying AEOS can easily control who has access to where, when, and under which conditions.

By enabling the 24/7 video monitoring of access control events as they happen, Aware’s AI analytics give security professionals what they need to act: usable, precise data, delivered instantly, whether from a video security stream or Nedap’s card readers, door controllers, or intrusion components. Security professionals using Aware and AEOS can get real-time time feedback on the security status of their facilities, for example, if doors are open for too long. Additionally, users can monitor and control people’s flow and presence in real time.

Together, the Aware Cloud intelligent video management system (VMS) and Nedap AEOS provide the simplicity, security, and power needed for proactive physical security. Once AEOS is connected to Aware Cloud via Ava Cloud Connector, users can link the cameras located close to each access control point, giving security officers complete visibility of entries and exits from within the video management system.

Placing representations of each access control point on Aware’s maps with Smart Presence™ enables operators to see what is happening at each doorway and the status of each door. Has an access request been made? Is the door unlocked, opened, being held open, is it being forced open? All these events can be viewed on Aware’s smart maps.

In cases of forced entry, authorization failure, revoked credentials, or doors propped open for a longer period, notifications pop up on the Aware Cloud user interface, including a thumbnail view from the camera that triggered the rule. The pop-up can be expanded to show more detail and allow further actions to be taken by your operators. For instance, additional details can include the name of the badge holder, the image on the credential, and the exact location, provided in real-time, leading to insights and options that are just not possible if access control remains separate from video security.

After an incident, fast forensic searches allow video security teams to find things quickly and reduce the burden of manually reviewing massive amounts of footage.

Organizations from a wide range of sectors, from finance, government, healthcare to schools and critical infrastructure facilities, can benefit from monitoring and detecting access violations using the two seamlessly interconnected platforms.

Create counting rules for vehicle types

Object or occupancy counting is a key feature for both video monitoring and operational efficiency insights in many sectors, from education, retail, hospitality to commercial real estate. With Aware Cloud, users can count the number of people and vehicles currently in view and those that have crossed a line over time. For the latter, Aware can separate count crossings in both directions and the difference between them. These counts can be done on a single camera or across multiple cameras covering a larger area.

In the 4.1 release, users will be able to select the type of vehicle to include in the count: 2 wheeled, small/medium vehicles, or large vehicles. They can also exclude stationary objects to exclude parked vehicles from the counts. 

The Ava Cloud Video Security 4.1 release also includes the ability to:

  • filter the alarms list
  • configure audio anomaly detection for your Ava Cameras
  • disable a rule temporarily
  • control the PTZ settings for individual sources of multisensor cameras
